Implementation with Drupal
A virtual museum for the town of Winnenden: This was the brief from the Baden-Württemberg municipality, which wanted to present its 800-year town history on the web. As a Stuttgart-based Internet agency, Frank und Freunde was responsible for the design as well as the technical conception and implementation of the new online platform. As "Digitale Zukunftskommune@bw", the new website is intended to kick off Winnenden's digitalization strategy.
Strategy and concept: focus on user experience
A virtual town museum for everyone! Whether locals, schoolchildren or tourists - the new platform of the town of Winnenden now presents over 800 years of town history to all interested parties in a modern way on the web. The diverse repertoire of historical documents, old newspaper articles, exhibits and other records from surrounding communities had to be reprocessed in a database in consultation with the customer and transported into the digital space.
One of the biggest challenges of the project was to package the content in a digital web design worth seeing and at the same time to develop its informative character. Based on a detailed concept, .FUF was able to create a clear and content-rich information structure that impresses in particular with an optimal user experience.
Interactive elements with Drupal 8
In order to meet the requirements of a digital municipality of the future, the technical basis is of great importance in addition to the contemporary presentation of the city's history. As a Stuttgart-based internet agency for web development, Frank und Freunde was able to convince those responsible at Winnenden's city archives to use the Drupal 8 enterprise content management system. In particular, the simple editorial usability of the open-source CMS, as well as its flexibility to meet different design and functional requirements, were ultimately the decisive factors for choosing Drupal.
The new website of the virtual museum is supplemented by individually developed interactive elements such as a virtual city tour or a timeline to classify different eras, which ultimately enable visitors to discover the city's history in a completely new way.
Digitization in Winnenden with .FUF
A successful combination of informative texts and a user-friendly design not only reflects Winnenden's urban society, but also attracts visitors from out of town to the new website, who can now explore the content in an exciting and interactive way.
With the implementation of the virtual city museum, Frank und Freunde has created added value for the entire municipality and the region. The internet agency from Stuttgart was also able to make a positive contribution to the digitalization strategy of the state of Baden-Württemberg.
